Our Church Preschool

In 1962, several mothers from GRACE decided to begin a kindergarten that would teach their children with Christian principles. At that time, no kindergarten classes were offered in the public school system. Through their determination and perseverance they were up and running by September of 1963. They ran double sessions, with over 50 children enrolled in each session, for several years until the school system offered the curriculum.

Today, Grace United Methodist Church offers a very good Preschool program. Our school runs from September through May and we offer classes for children as young as 2 years through 5 years in addition to a certified kindergarten program. The children are in class from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. They are given excellent instruction in their ABCs and numbers as well as having time for play and snacks.

Every Wednesday our "Music Lady" comes and the children have music time where they learn songs and get to play simple instruments. The children leave Grace Preschool ready for the demands of the public school system.

We are very proud of the fact that all of our teachers have degrees and a great love for children. If you have any questions about our program please call the Preschool office at 452-4484

The 2003-2004 school year will be a fun and exciting year. The classes are filled with energetic children which keeps the staff busy just trying to stay one step ahead of them. The month of December will be full of excitement . Tree decorating, making Christmas treasures and learning Christmas songs will be a part of the daily routine. The climax of this delightful season is the traditional Christmas Sing-A-Long, which will be presented in December in the church sanctuary for the children's parents, grandparents and everyone who would enjoy a holiday presentation by a delightful group of children.

Several years ago the Preschool had a service project to help defray the cost for families who stay in the Ronald McDonald House while their children are in Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando. We collected tabs from aluminum cans such as soda, pop top fruit and vegetable cans, etc. Which the recycling company will pay The Ronald McDonald House for them. The response has been so fantastic that we are continuing this project this year. The tabs are being collected in the Preschool office.
